Product Introduction
This kit contains the timing tools required to cover the belt replacement procedure for both
the early and later variants of these engines. The kit includes piston positioning, camshaft
and crankshaft locking tools, plus tensioner adjuster and VVT sprocket locking tool.
This Fiat range of 1.2 16 valve petrol engines was first introduced as long ago as 1997 in
the Punto and since then a number of variants have been released including the 1.4 range
of 16 valve/T-Jet engines. The majority of these engines use the same timing tools
combination and basically the same procedure for timing belt replacement. However
engine codes 192B2.000, 198A1.000, 198A4.000, 199A6.000 and 199A8.000 require an
additional tool to 'lock' the camshaft sprocket, whereas code 169A3.000 requires a
different tool combination and has a slightly different procedure. All the timing tools
required are included in Kit 780-8502. Dependent upon the engine there are components
which will require removal to gain access to the timing belt, such as –the right hand front
wheel, air filter, radiator grille, timing belt covers, auxiliary belt, fuel rail/injectors and
spark plugs.
